Peer Services offers much-needed drug/alcohol addiction recovery programs and services of all kinds, including individual counseling, support groups, and a methadone clinic. They are a small, nondescript, un-flashy office in downtown Evanston, IL, a few steps away from both CTA and Metra trains. They accept both court-ordered and voluntary clients with a minimum of red tape-- or at least the client is spared most of the paperwork. Plus, it's a laid-back, friendly atmosphere, not at all intimidating nor marred by judgmental attitude (but don't for a moment take this to mean any sign of unprofessionalism). My only reservation, and this doesn't cause me to knock off a star rating, is that during the methadone clinics the entry area is milling with clients (it's not a large facility) -- which ostensibly might put off some folks but is handled graciously and professionally, and does not interfere with whatever else is going on there. The good people at Peer Services are experienced in addiction issues, are compassionate, bend over backwards for their clients, and know what they're doing.
